About

Animal Action of Greater Reading, PA, is a grassroots organization working for the rights of ALL species, in Berks County and beyond. We are a group of concerned residents seeking to end the death and cruelty imposed upon tens of thousands of animals in our immediate area, and billions worldwide.

We promote a cruelty-free lifestyle, emphasizing veganism and what YOU, as an individual, can do to help animals of all types. We are dedicated to animal rights through protests, events and spreading awareness with hopes to open the ears, eyes and hearts of those who are unaware of the truth and the stories of the animals behind your fashion, food and entertainment and the process it takes to get to you.

Information is awesome. Information is power.

Whether it is simply serving as an example for others to follow, educating others, volunteering, protesting, or taking direct action, we hope to give you the tools, support and information you need to create real change.

We can make a difference, join us! We ask only that you do your best.

This quote by Henry Beston, speaks loud truths that I hope we all someday soon will recognize. These truths are already inside us. Animals are not ours, they are perfectly their own. They inhabit this earth with great purposes. They are our brothers and sisters and we can only succeed when we realize we share this life and planet with them.

“We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they are more finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other Nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendor and travail of the earth.”
